Where each one fits
Ubiquiti WiFiman
WiFiman is free, and no scan limit is stated for it. The features that set it apart are built around Ubiquiti hardware — UniFi device discovery, Teleport VPN into a UniFi network, and a Floorplan Mapper on LiDAR-equipped devices — so those parts apply only to someone already running UniFi gear. Its desktop app supports only UniFi device discovery and Teleport VPN, which points the same way. It offers no continuous monitoring or alerts.
Fing — Network Scanner
Fing covers more ground on paper, and none of it is tied to one vendor’s hardware — it lists port scanning, speed tests, continuous monitoring, and Windows, Mac, Raspberry Pi and web clients alongside the phone app. Two limits sit against that. Its free plan allows up to 3 manual scans per day, with unlimited scans on paid plans at $7.99/month or $69.99/year for Premium and $16.99/month or $149.99/year for Professional. And its continuous monitoring and alerts require Fing Desktop, Fing Agent or Fingbox running separately, so the phone app on its own does not provide them.
