About AppMatchup
AppMatchup publishes head-to-head comparisons of mobile apps — two at a time, on the same points, with every claim traced to something the developer published. It is operated by Fogarty Holdings LLC, a one-person software company in Brooklyn, New York, which also publishes iOS apps of its own.
How a comparison is made
Every factual claim on a comparison page comes from what the developer publishes — App Store listings, pricing pages and official documentation. Nothing is asserted that one of those sources does not support.
Each page names the sources it drew on and the date they were checked, so a reader can follow the same trail and see what has changed since. Where two published sources disagree with each other, the page says so and shows both rather than quietly picking the one that reads better.
Where the figures come from
The “At a glance” table on every comparison is generated from Apple’s App Store lookup API rather than typed by hand, and refreshed on a schedule. That is what keeps prices, versions, ratings and install sizes in step across every page an app appears on: an app that shows up in three comparisons cannot disagree with itself. The date each table was pulled is printed directly beneath it.
Subscription pricing is the exception. Apple does not publish it, so it comes from each developer’s own pricing page and is dated separately in the table.
What we don’t claim
Every comparison ends with a section listing what the published sources do not answer. Those questions are written down and left open, rather than filled in with a guess that would read as fact.
It is a deliberately narrow method. What a comparison can tell you is what two developers have committed to in public, set side by side on the same points, with the date attached. Anything beyond that belongs in the open-questions section, and that is where it goes.
Conflicts of interest
Fogarty Holdings LLC publishes its own iOS apps, and some comparisons on this site include one of them. Currently that means NetScanPro, CertFlash, Field Stub, Referra and TagSweep.
Where a comparison includes one of those apps, the page carries a label next to that app in its card, and its disclosure section names the connection directly instead of leaving it to this page.
There are no affiliate links anywhere on this site, no sponsored placements, and no payment from any developer for coverage or position. Two things are worth stating plainly. Links to apps published by Fogarty Holdings LLC carry an Apple campaign token, which tells us how many installs came from this site and nothing else — it changes nothing about the App Store page you land on. Links to every other developer’s app are plain URLs with nothing attached, and we receive nothing if you follow one. Pages featuring one of our own apps also show an App Store banner at the top when opened in Safari on an iPhone. All of it is visible by inspecting the page.
Corrections
If a page states something inaccurate about an app, we want to know and will fix it. Corrections to factual claims are made on the page itself, where the claim was made.
